For my Leap 2 project my partner was Emma Cohan. Emma came up with the idea to do something with the long term effects of social media. I thought this was an awesome idea and we texted back and forward to narrow down our idea. The next step for us was to figure out how we wanted to put out the information. We wanted it to be something that would keep the audience interested. We decided we wanted to have some type of story that we could talk about our ideas in. The story for us was our way to get the viewer to see where we were coming from. The story was also important because without it the theories that we were talking about would not have had an impact on the viewer. We wanted to drive in the idea that there is no avoiding social media today. One way or another your child will get on it and it is better to educate them about it than to just tell them to avoid. Before we even started working on the animation we made an outline that we both worked on. The outline changed a lot from start to finish so that we could have the animation make sense.
We also drafted a lot of different ideas for the story we wanted to tell until we felt like we had found the best one. The animation was the hardest part of this project. Due to Corona we were not able to meet in person to work on it so we could only do it online. We both had trouble figuring out how to work it at first, but after a few texts with each other we figured it out. The main problem that we found with this was that it was hard to tell when the other person was done with their section. I did my section first and them Emma did hers and then we both went back in and edited and added stuff. This step would have been much easier to do in person because we could give feedback right away instead of over text.
The outline was super helpful when we were making the animation because it helped us keep everything in order and it also helped us make sure that we did not forget to add anything. Emma and I texted a lot to make sure that we were both happy with what we were coming up with and we also made sure to make sure that we both agreed on everything that was in the animation. At first I was very worried about having to work with someone in the class and not being able to meet to work on it, but working with Emma was super easy. We had a pretty easy time finding time where we were both able to work on it. We also had very similar ideas which made it very easy to draft up and create everything. All around I thought that this project went a lot smoother than I thought it would and working with Emma went very well.

Animaker was an interesting tool to learn how to use. It was a lot simpler to use than I thought it was going to be. For me it was very interesting to see what I said being turned into an animation. I also thought that it was very cool how they had a type to speech. This feature made the story telling section a lot easier.
