Sydney Hagopian: Before watching this video I had no idea what native advertising was. After watching the video, I learned that native advertising are mostly online advertisements that blend with their surroundings, rather than interrupting the flow. I was surprised to even find out that this was a strategy companies use to promote their businesses or products. After watching this video, it opened my eyes and will now make me more cautious in the future to the advertisements I am watching or reading. I have now gone back and viewed advertisements I have previewed previously and look at them a lot differently and notice that there really are advertisements in advertisements. I'm trying to figure out if native advertising is actually good or bad, but I believe it can be good and bad.

I thought this was an interesting video because of how much I tend to interact with native advertising when I try to pass time. Companies that create online content tend to do this a lot to reach a wider audience on social media, and it doesn't seem like too big of a deal. However, it is something that can make a huge impact on society as time goes on. Native advertising has gotten harder to detect, and we need to make sure that news outlets and news sources are free of the influence from large corporations paying for advertisements in fake news stories. We can change this by supporting reputable sources, as well as checking for reputable authors and sponsorships in our news every day

Alli Pine: Personally, I didn’t really know what native advertising was, nor did I know the term for it, until I had watched this video. Honestly, the main thought process that occurred to me during the 11 minute segment was “how many news articles have I read that were nothing more than an advertisement for something else”. It scares me because its sly yet effective. Have I made entire life choices based on advertisements that I didn’t know were advertisements? Furthermore, I am interested to see how native advertising has been used for good, such as saving the planet.

Samantha Healy: That video really surprised me because I didn't know native advertisement was something companies did. It really makes you want to analyze a news article next time you're reading it and wonder if it's actually news or a company advertising their product. When you think of an advertisement, you picture like ads on TV or something that pops up in your phone. It's scary to think how these native advertisements have effected people's choices in whatever the product/service is.
