Nas Daily

This project turned out to be more frustrating then I had anticipated but I managed to make it through. I started the project when we first got the instructions. I originally chose David Dobrik because it is my daughters favorite. However somehow, I missed the page where we had to sign up for our chosen person and David was already taken. Ok, so back to the beginning! I couldn’t decide which vlogger to do next. I had searched a few but none really stuck out to me. Then I remembered about NAS Daily. NAS DAILY by vlogger Nusier Yassine also known as NAS, had been something I had seen multiple times before and his topic choices really interested me because they were often about unusual places or amazing people.

As I was trying to put this together, I struggled with what content I wanted to put on my presentation. Nas’s 1000-day project had ended and his new journey began did I want to analyze his earlier productions or his most recent. It was clear that his earliest vlogs were that of a semi amateur and his later ones a seasoned experienced professional. I chose a random number by blindly hitting the number keys. I was pleasantly surprised with my choice because I had seen this “episode” before. The video was a fun one about a place in Armenia where Gravity appears to work backwards.

From here I opened power point and began my piecing my presentation. Normally I would tell you that I love PowerPoint, but not now. I realized that I never use Power point to its full potential I make unanimated slides for a electronic bulletin board. I thought about changing to a different software but in the end just stuck with power point. While trudging through this this week and reading about the storyboards I realized that the backwards method is where I need to start to get my project moving forward. I decided to write the dialog in which I wanted my presentation to follow and then go back and adjust my images to fit my message. This proved helpful and I was able to complete the visual part.

Here is where the frustration multiplies. ScreenCastify! I forgot you can only use it with CHROME! After 10 minutes I finally remember and head over to chrome. I complete recording after recording, unhappy with all. I had rehearsed several times unrecorded but some home the added pressure of the record button messed with my ability to read, advance the slides and turn pages at the same time. After about 15 tries I finally settle for the best version. Uploading to Youtube was another small snag in production. Because I had never set up my YouTube Channel Screencastify kept signing me in then giving me an error message. After a few attempts I figured out I had to go to YouTube, set the channel up then I could upload.

Finally, I could now just apply content to the Notions page. Then Notions would sign me in but would not save any data that I entered. Again I had to figure out that Notions is not Firefox friendly and that signing in using the Chrome browser would solve all my problems or would it? I find my spot to enter my work and somehow completely change my name to “Grade book” and my whole page was now a grade book. After some tinkering, a shout out for help, a deep breath and a return to tinkering I was able to undo my mistakes and upload my LEAP 1 project.

What this project has taught me other then no matter how early I start I’m always pushing last minute is to remember that all that frustration is part of the learning process. All the obstacles I encountered helped me to learn other ways of doing things to keep trying to find the way and that things are not always as simple as I sometimes may think they are.
