Reflection:

This project forced me out of my comfort zone by challenging me to collaborate with someone else. At first I was nervous because I had never worked on a collaborative project entirely online before without communicating with my partner in person. Luckily, Jason and I were able to exchange numbers and create a Google doc where we began brainstorming ideas. We decided on propaganda for our topic because there is a lot of information and we both found it to be very interesting. We reviewed the definitions of advertising and propaganda so that we could make clear distinctions between the two in our animation. We also looked back on the chapter about propaganda in "Create To Learn" in order to spark creativity.

Once we had all of our information, Jason split the information up into two halves so that we could make a clear transition between each section. Our original plan was to work on the animation at the same time in Powtoon, but we were unable to share it with each other. After trying multiple times to make a shareable Powtoon, we decided to make our own and combine them afterwards. This was anxiety inducing because I wasn't sure how well our sections would fit together if we couldn't see the other person's work until the end. I think this was the area in which we used the "power of two" to our advantage. Jason and I were faced with a challenge due to technology, but we found a way to work around it. We communicated clearly with each other so that we were on the same page about animation styles and the lengths of our voiceovers. Since we talked to each other throughout the entire process, I was very relieved and proud that our animation came out very clean and cohesive.

Overall, I am happy with our work. We chose a topic that we both found interesting, which made the project much more fun. I believe our animation is educational and professional looking, and will help people learn the differences between advertisements and propaganda, as well as how propaganda can be harmful.
