EDC 534: Ordinary creativity is the focus of LEAP 1

For LEAP 1, you must select an individual who is using YouTube, Instagram or TikTok. Because we still know relatively little about the creative work processes of ordinary people, your screencast analysis has greater potential to create new knowledge. You will apply the process of critically analyzing media to the work of someone who is creating content on one of these three platforms. Ideas and information from Create to Learn will be most helpful to you in developing your project.

Consider the following examples to get your creative juices flowing:

YOUTUBERS

Derek Muller - Veritasium. Derek Muller explains scientific concepts and ideas in engaging ways. One of his videos is titled Why Trees Are Out to Get You. This video uses a variety of strategies to make you wonder about how trees can grow to be so tall.

Zoe Herdt - Read by Zoe. Zoe Herdy is a Booktuber who makes videos about her obsession with books. One of her videos is titled Reading Spooky Books in a Cabin for a Week. The video explains some of the mystery books she is reading and chronicles the experience of "getting spooked" by fictional stories.

Nathan Zed - Third Pew. Nathan Zed is a comedian who offers funny and sometimes inspiring videos about popular culture and daily life. One of his videos, When an Exam Starts Off Too Easy captures the emotional sense of panic that can occur when taking a test.

INSTAGRAMMERS

TIKTOKERS

YOUR CHOICE OF FOCUS

Put your choice of digital author here so we do not duplicate any digital authors. Each student should focus on a different individual. If you like, you can select one of the authors I have named already.
