Reflective Essay

At this start of this class in January I was excited but a little worried about being a digital “author.” I don’t necessarily think of myself as a creative person in a traditional sense, and I’m not much at doing things by hand like gardening, elaborate cooking, and crafting. But I do like to problem solve, and I’ve come to see that a lot of creativity comes as a result of problem solving. (We’re seeing a lot of that right now, as we try to solve problems that never existed a couple of months ago.) I think it’s also important to trust the process and to use that process to just get going and see where things lead. We’ve been exposed to and used some helpful tools this term that let us pose questions to hone in on purpose and audience, that allow us to re-frame questions in ways that give a fresh perspective, which are all critical to creation.
